How would you have liked to have Amare Stoudemire or Boris Diaw on your fantasy playoff roster only to see the duo suspended for going to help their teammate (Steve Nash) up after being crosschecked into the scorers table? You heard it right, crosschecked, and all they did was hop up to help him off the floor. You could interpret it like that, but unfortunately Stern didn’t see it that way.
From an ethical standpoint I have to question the game and the intentions of David Stern. Are the Spurs the poster boys for the NBA. If so, why is that? Is it because not one of their players sports an assortment of body art on their arms, necks, and chest? Excuse me, I forgot Duncan has a couple on his back, but we can’t see those. Is it because Tim Duncan is Big Fundamentals, and they have a bunch of european players, along with BIGSHOT Rob? Don’t get me wrong I like Robert Horry, but was that a planned move by him in front of the Suns bench knowing that somebody would react. Is Greg Popovich that smart or that dirty to have implemented this strategy into his 2nd half game plan? Whatever the case may be, commissioner David Stern could have kept Diaw and Stoudemire in the lineup for game 6. Reminds me of the Celtics of the 80’s. Great team, great players, but needed that extra little bit of help to win the championships they won.
There are so many inconsistencies in the NBA, that if Stern wanted to clean the game up, he would clean up officiating, decrease the amount of timeout, t.v timeouts, traveling calls, foul calls or no-calls, and bring back the game we all grew to love in the late 80’s. So, for all you sports writers who want to justify, defend, and kiss Sterns ass through your convincing style of writing, there is no way you believe that Stern didn’t have the ability to allow this series to continue as it was. Review it over the next couple of days, and if you have to, suspend them for the next meeting in San Antonio. There are paying customers who spent hundreds and even thousands of dollars for their tickets to see the best play in what could’ve been the best series of the playoffs. Like you all say, “they should let the players decide it”. I’m just glad they weren’t on my Fantasy Roster.
